With the filming of tonights episode of Jimmy Fallon wrapped up, fans are taking to twitter to talk about the performance and news.
UPDATE #2: The album is now available for Purchase on iTunes
UPDATE: Billboard.com has confirmed that “Channel ORANGE” will be available at midnight tonight (12AM ET/9PM PT) with an announcment of it’s release coming on Jimmy Fallon.
ORIGINAL STORY: After Jimmy Fallon and Questlove teased a “big announcement” tonight, fans in attendance at today’s taping jumped to twitter to discuss the news. Rumor is that once tonights episode of “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” airs, “Channel ORANGE” will be released on iTunes only with the physical copy to follow on July 17.
Multiple tweets also say that Frank Ocean will perform “Bad Religion” tonight, a song that has yet to be premiered. “Bad Religion” is track #15 on “Channel ORANGE“.
Frank Ocean told the New York Times that he wanted to release the album without notice to surprise fans like he did with his mixtape “Nostalgia, ULTRA”. Of course with a major label debut like this Def Jam wouldn’t let that happen. But, dropping it on iTunes 7 days early, after a network TV performance is a great way to beat leaks and provide Frank Ocean with the surprise he originally wanted.
